According to top world organizations UN-FAO*, by 2050 humanity is expected to be made up of nearly 10 billion people and the production and consumption of food is pushing the planet global system to its limit. To ensure sufficient safe food for all, as well as sustainably developed products, there is a need for novel approaches capable of optimizing health and nutritional outcomes whilst respecting the key ecosystems on which the world depends. For that purpose, Nutella and Soremartec established and continue to support a group of renowned international experts brought together to independently yet jointly investigate and share the importance of a sustainable diet approach as a solution for the 2050 needs of Humanity. The group of experts founded the Sustainable Nutrition Scientific Board (SNSB). This concept explores the possibility and fosters the ability to provide sufficient energy and the essential nutrients required to reach and maintain a population’s good health level above present threshold while in parallel limiting the consumption of natural and societal resources.
